K type and N type thermocouple wires are two different types of thermocouple wires used for temperature measurement.
The main difference between them is the materials used to make the wires and their temperature ranges.
K type thermocouple wire is made of chromel (90% nickel and 10% chromium) and alumel (95% nickel, 2% manganese, 2% aluminum, and 1% silicon) alloys. It has a temperature range of -200°C to 1350°C and is commonly used in industrial applications.
N type thermocouple wire is made of nicrosil (84% nickel, 14.2% chromium, and 1.4% silicon) and nisil (95% nickel and 5% silicon) alloys.
It has a temperature range of -270°C to 1300°C and is commonly used in aerospace and nuclear applications.
In summary, K type thermocouple wire is used for industrial temperature measurement, while N type thermocouple wire is used for high-precision temperature measurement in extreme environments.
