Platinum iridium tubes are mainly composed of platinum and iridium, which is chemically inactive and stable in air and humid environments. When heated below 450 ℃, a thin film of platinum dioxide forms on the surface, and can react with sulfur, phosphorus, and halogens at high temperatures. Platinum is insoluble in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and alkaline solutions, but soluble in aqua regia and molten alkali. Used in chemical, medical, cement, research university laboratories, for the preparation of high-temperature experimental carriers for anti-cancer drugs or medical devices.
